REVIEW – Nuby Front and Back Baby Carrier

We were absolutely delighted to be sent the Nuby Front & Back Baby Carrier to share our experience using it! We’ve also been given another one to giveaway to one lucky follower, so read on for more details….

First Impressions

The look and quality of this product is just beautiful. I absolutely love the fabric and colour scheme. It has a pocket at the front for the wearer to put their hands which is a lovely touch. I also love the detail of the leather zip tab and Nuby badge, it just screams quality to me.

“Nuby’s Grey Front & Back Baby Carrier is lightweight & easy to use with a sturdy waist belt and padded, form-fitting shoulder straps to allow you to support the child’s weight on your hips and avoid back and shoulder discomfort.
This ergonomic carrier features a foldable canopy hood that keeps baby happily covered from the sun. The wide, ergonomic seat supports from knee-to-knee with a naturally rounded back for a safe and comfy ride.”

When our carrier arrived they didn’t have the instructions with it, but Nuby sent them out straight away when they were informed. So here are the instructions if anyone else needs them:

This is for front position, not back position.

The Nuby Front & Back Baby Carrier

This carrier can be worn with the baby facing you in front position and also on the back of the wearer, like a rucksack but with a baby! A major positive for me is that this carrier is ergonomic, meaning the baby is positioned comfortably and correctly so it won’t cause any developmental health problems such as hip dysplasia.

Front Position
I love using the carrier with Joel on my front. We can both see each other and he can have his arms in to hold onto me (or his daddy Shaun), which I think he prefers or he can have his arms over the top of the carrier for a bit more freedom and ability to look around.

Back Position
Although it is comfortable for both baby and wearer, this position is just not for me. I prefer to see Joel and personally, I just don’t like to carry him in this position. Shaun was the same and prefers to use the carrier with Joel in the front position. If you feel completely different and want a back carrier, this Nuby carrier would be perfect for you. the straps are secure, thick and easily adjustable. It may take a bit of practice getting your baby in and out in this position, we found it a bit of a struggle.

Easy to use?

I took a bit of practice to start with, but I can now put Joel in and out of the carrier on my own when I wear him on my front. I find it much easier while I’m sitting down to put him in and fasten the clips, then stand up to tighten the straps so we are both comfortable and secure. We’ve only had Joel on my back and then Shaun’s back once, just because I personally like to see him when I’m holding him. Shaun found it fairly easy to secure Joel on my back, however I found it quite hard to do, so it may take some practice! I found it to be very comfortable to wear him in this way, but this position just isn’t for me.

Good Value?

At around £30 (depending on where you buy it from), this carrier is excellent value for money. If you look at other carrier brands, you’d be looking at paying around £100 for a similar ergonomic carrier. That is a massive saving!

What Would I Change?

The only thing that I would like to be different, is for the hood to be a little bigger. I’m not sure if Joel just has a massive head, but it slips off his head quite easily.

Overall I am so happy with this carrier! I have used baby wraps in the past when Joel was younger and there just wasn’t enough support for me to wear him for any good length of time. With this Nuby carrier however, there’s enough support distributed across the back to give the wearer excellent support. We now take this carrier with us everywhere! Not only has it made walks more enjoyable for us, it’s made life so much easier too. I now don’t have to take the pram everywhere we go. I can go shopping and actually carry some of the bags. Winning at life.
