Around the time I was about 10 weeks pregnant, I begin having some real trouble sleeping. I was waking up in the night at least 10 times, really uncomfortable and in quite a bit of pain. I was flipping over like a fish out of water! So I had a search on the internet, as you do and found a lot of ladies suggesting a pregnancy pillow to help.
I found a few different ones on Amazon, all claiming to do the same thing ranging from as little as £1.26 to over a whopping £800!! I like my comfort, but not that much!
I opted for the LOVE2SLEEP Big U Pregnancy Support Pillow by SleepyNights at £29.95.
I’ve had it for a couple of months now and I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised on the effect this has had on my sleep. I still wake up in the night a couple of times, but no where near as much as I was before. Another reason for purchasing this pillow was to try and stop me rolling onto my back in my sleep, as you probably know this is a big no no when pregnant as it cuts the blood flow to baby and is thought to increase the risk of still birth. The U shape is perfect for this! When I get in bed, I make sure I’m on my side and push the pillow into my back and wedge myself in and it really does keep me in position.
The only negative thing I have to say about this product is the filling at the head of the pillow has gone a little flat. I have to plump it up occasionally. Not the end of the world and that wouldn’t put me off recommending it.
Overall, I am very happy I chose this product out of the vast selection available. It’s not too expensive and it does the job perfectly. I’m not surprised it’s tagged as ‘Amazon’s Choice’.
